If you're looking for a one-of-a-kind outfit for a special occasion this is it. The construction is very detailed as the photos show. I have tried to describe the colors used as the photos produced different results based on the background. To my eye, the photos that best represent the background color are #s 2 & 3. While it may appear that the golden color is a metallic thread, it is not.

Rather, the silk gives the impression that it is. The entire dress seems to shimmer like satin. Handmade in China during the 1940s. Detailed quilt-like stitching on collar and sleeve hem.

Twisted pleat detail on upper bodice and sleeves. Full-length - lower portion (without closures) can be hemmed shorter. Flowers and Birds make up the design.

Background & lining are a greenish gray. Foreground pattern is made with maroon, mauve-pink, yellow-gold, brown, green, lavender & silver-gray.

The top of each sleeve has a small pleat eliminating the need for shoulder pads yet allowing the sleeve to maintain a structured look. There is a label marked Excelsior but I have been unable to find any information about a shop in China at the time. Measurements: I have provided an illustration of the various dimensions of this garment in the next-to-last photo.

I combined pre-made illustrations that, together, provide all the critical areas of this garment. These measurements were taken with the garment laying flat.

You may wish to compare them to another item that fits well to find out if this is the correct size. The mannequin I used is a smallish size. Defects noted (see last photo). A & C: These are dark spots - they look like rust. The spots are only on the lining and would not be seen during wear. B: Thread pull in the lining. D: There are two areas (measuring about 8"x9" - irregularly shaped) of slight discoloration in the lining as represented in the photo. No defects noticed on the outer brocade fabric.
