Vintage HAND MADE QUILT Pink 9 Patch with HUMILITY BLOCKS ca. 1950's or earlier
In addition, we are listing, where noted, quilts from my wife's Mother and Grandmother. All the quilts have been verbally appraised by a very knowledgeable certified appraiser as to condition and description. These Quilts are excellent examples of our uniquely American vanishing art form. This particular quilt was built by my Grandmother, in a 9 Patch style. It is Hand pieced and Hand quilted using cotton fabrics and cotton batting.
According to the Appraiser, the cotton batting is in "Good" condition. It is very possible that this quilt was done by my Grandmother and a Church group in the 1950's.
The stitches are quite beautiful. The Swirled Leaf Pattern repeats in each of the large pink spaces throughout the quilt. This quilt has a bias-tape binding. There are at least Three HUMILITY BLOCKS found in the Quilt, and we believe it is a Church group effort because there are so many'humility blocks' in it.
The quilt was probably constructed in the 1950's in Hull Illinois. Size is 59 by 77 inches. According to the Appraiser it is considered "GOOD CONDITION". Beautiful, wire wrap is an art and this is beautifully done Thanks AAAAA+++++.
