Rare vintage Guatemalan Huipil King Size Quilt, sewn together from many Huipil blouses, the heavily decorated blouses that Mayan women wear for everyday use, with some created only for ceremonial use. This quilt is very unusual and one-of-a-kind! The vendor told us that the pieces used to make the quilt were very old, many no longer being made or worn. The quilt has several neck holes from the Huipils which have been creatively patched with other pieces. Beautiful colors with images of the sun's rays around the neck, many birds, a wide variety of flowers, buds and leaves, butterflies, and geometrical designs.

Huipil weavings are a vision of nature, images from their Mayan world, beautiful beyond imagination. The Huipil Quilt covers a King Size bed, very heavy and warm. The dimensions are 84-inches by 96-inches. It has a black cloth backing with a heavy edging. Of course you can hang the quilt on a wall as well, the person who made the quilt included loops on one end to hang it as a work of art.
