OUTSTANDING, FOLKY Vintage 1870's Floral Applique Antique Quilt Swag Border

  

This MAGNIFICENT cotton 1860's / 1870's floral applique quilt is hand appliqued and hand quilted, with multiple botanical designs, background applique, and a zigzag/swag border. It measures 60" X 82" and is in very good condition, with background toning in places and subtle color loss in the unstable green in a few places.

There are elaborate floral, leafy, botanical, and other designs hand quilted in the background, all at 7-8 stitches to the inch. The back and hand stitched binding are white, and the batting is thin.

A sleeve has been hand sewn on one edge of the back, making this suitable for use as a wall hanging. It came out of collection in southern Michigan. The WONDERFUL COLORS and GREAT DESIGN make this folky vintage MASTERPIECE stand out -- it would make a terrific wall hanging!
