This is a VERY LARGE antique quilt in a variation of the flying geese pattern. The quilt is very intricately hand stitched and hand quilted using various shades of pink, red, green, blue and neutrals/browns/tans.
This quilt dates to the mid-late 1800s and is very large for its age, measuring 86x96. The hand quilting is wonderful in a combination of a very tight grid pattern throughout. This quilting is demonstrated on both the top and the reverse of the quilt. The edging is a solid turkey red. The backing is a neutral muslin/linen, several shades darker than the front. The quilt does show small age spots throughout, varying in size no larger than a dime. There is some fading throughout consistent with age and there are several neutral/tan and red fabrics that show wear through to the batting. There is some fraying and no holes, rips or tears. The condition is accurately represented in the photos and video. Please contact me for additional photos if needed. This is a charming early quilt in a very large size that has a lot of life left to live! All of my quilts are antique or vintage (75-150 years old).
