Important Early American 1833 Antique Chintz QUILT Varnarsdale Hunterdon NJ. A very rare find, a glorious, glazed chintz quilt from Hunterdon County, New Jersey. This would have been a very expensive quilt to make, and it was cherished and put away, never used. 1833 In tiny cross stitch on the back side. Based on the initials and date, along with where this quilt was found, we were able to find the original owners.
Enoch (born 1801 in Monmouth) & Sarah (Coxe) Vanarsdale, married September 27, 1827. Sarah Coxe was born December 16, 1806 and passed on December 31, 1875. Hand quilted at 6-7 stitches per inch. In near mint condition with one tiny split noted in the one fabric as shown in the photo with the scissors. An exquisite, and important, historical quilt for the advanced collector.
