Gorgeous Vintage / Antique French Quilt Bedspread Throw, Handmade, Yellow Floral

  

Gorgeous hand-stitched late 19th century or early 20th century French quilt. In remarkable condition for its age. Sunshine yellow quality cotton fabric.

With little clusters of pink and red roses set in the diamonds of the trellis pattern. There's a central machine-stitched seam, showing that the fabric was woven on a narrow loom.

The backing is a much paler plain primrose yellow. And the batting would seem to be wool blanket. Measures 82" x 51" and sits beautifully across a double bed (shown).

It would also be perfect used longways on a single bed. In clean antique condition - the colours are a little blurred here and there where it has previously been washed.

As the dyes used during this period were created from natural products, and are not usually colourfast. There are also a few little holes, marks and wear-patches, mainly on the backing.
