C 1850s Green APPLIQUE Whig Rose Quilt Antique Fine Quilting Maryland PA. An early 4 block whig rose applique quilt. It gives you the feel of an outdoor garden with the green. Solids in green, turkey red and cheddar. I do love the unique border with swags and buds.

Measures 86 x 84 inches. Fine hand quilting at 10 stitches per inch. Background motif designs and rods.

The applique is hand sewn. Age/other spotting tanning scattered, missing applique, binding has wear, top edge has some wear tears, color lift fade, surface wear, etc.

Has a musty odor since it was stored a long time in the estate. Not a perfect quilt, but certainly a wonderful design to add to your collection. Found along the Maryland Pennsylvania border.
