Double Sided Handmade Patchwork Quilt Old Vintage Antique hand stitched Heavy

  

Unusual Double Sided Antique Quilt - One side features 1950's cotton floral prints in blocks and hand quilting. The other side is in pink and gray in "Courthouse Steps" pattern and my best guess is this side is Wool. It is something heavy and kind of scratchy. I took close ups of the fabric so see if you can tell for yourself. The pink and gray side (courthouse steps) does not feature the quilting.

That side is patchworked together likely by hand but the quilting from the other side does not come all the way thru to the pink and gray side. One has to wonder exactly what was going on here. Did the floral side need a backing so perhaps the artisan took an old handmade wool quilt top to be the backing? Feel free to message me if you have any info on this unusual quilt. 65.5 wide x 80.5 long.

Condition - Used, some discoloration probably, one hole I found in the binding (see pic), heavier quilt, some sort of imprint of letters/numbers on the pink gray courthouse steps side (see pics) structurally sound enough to actually use, possibly other minor imperfections or signs of wear, but I try to describe as honestly as possible. This quilt was found in deep southwest Alabama and was likely made right here in Alabama.

I have not tried to get any stains out. I have not washed it, but it likely has been washed. It does not have a smell of any kind. My home is smoke free with one inside outside adorable puppy dog.
