Consists of (13) rows of (12) of each color flowers, plus 13 rows of half flowers on both sides. It is an antique piece, made from 1900 - 1920. THE VERY SPECIAL THING ABOUT THIS ONE IS THAT IT HAS STRAIGHT ROWS OF COLORED FLOWERS, STARTING WITH BROWN, LIGHT BLUE, RED, PURPLE, DARK BLUE, & PINK ON EACH END.
BUT, IN ADDITION TO THAT, EACH FLOWER IN A PARTICULAR COLOR ROW IS MADE OF DIFFERENT SPECIFIC FABRICS OF THAT COLOR!!! I HAVE NEVER SEEN A QUILT SO ARTFULLY DONE & CAREFULLY PLANNED!!! THE MAKER HAD A GREAT SENSE OF COLOR & DESIGN.This has a 10 blue border that was added later, possibly in the'70's. This is a nice country design that would look very good in a variety of cabins, colonial houses, or primitive settings.
Because it is so nicely colored with a variety of colors, it will go in any room. This is a quilt top, not a finished quilt, but all the hard, time-consuming work has already been done....
The cutting out & piecing.... And all the hand sewing. Requires only quilting to finish into a completed quilt. It is a perfect candidate for use with or practice on a long-arm quilting machine or it can be hand quilted. THIS ONE WOULD BE GORGEOUS IF COMPLETED!!
In excellent condition overall, with very bright colors, and no holes or damage. I have not laundered this quilt top and preferred to keep it just as it came, "as found", from the estate. A really nice looking quilt top for display, for use, or for background for a period collection. And of course could be beautiful if completed into a finished quilt.Could also be used as a copy pattern for a new one, or even material for craft projects. In any event, a nicely made antique quilt.
