This is an authentic antique quilt. It is not a cutdown.
It dates from the early 1900's. The Snowball pattern has black, cream and coral fabrics. The coral fabric might be a jacquard as it is embossed with a floral design. The black and white look like satins but I'm only an expert on cottons. The colors are bright and vivid.
The piecing was all done by hand and the snowballs measure 1.5. There is a large black polka dot binding which almost looks like an outer border that was stitched by hand. The fabrics are sturdy and it's possible that it has never been washed.
The fabrics have no wear. The back is a red and white cotton shirting. There is no batting and no quilting. There is one storage spot on the front and one on the back. The back may have some storage toning. This amazing quilt is an absolute treasure. Collected in Oklahoma, although most likely from the East. This item is in the category "Collectibles\Linens & Textiles\Bed & Bath Linens\Quilts, Bedspreads & Coverlets".
