Antique Vtg Turkey Red Overdyed Green Calico Quilt Double Irish Chain Patchwork. 80-90% of beds in this era would be what we consider full size.

King beds weren't a commonly available bed size until the 1950s, so this would've belonged to someone with a custom bed or was used for something else entirely. It may be machine pieced (though the edging is hand stitched) but it is hand quilted, beautifully so too.

Plumes/fronds, sunflower, + diamond grid. For the age, est mid 1800s, it's in good shape but it does have some wear-minor fading, intermittent water staining like what is pictured, and a couple darning spots that maybe could've been done better. I have photographed all the darned spots up close. The red squares originally had black polka dots and a lot of those have disintegrated into perfect tiny pin point holes.

A stabilizer might be wise at some point to prevent those from continuing or snagging and tearing into actual holes, they are only noticeable up close. This is most likely just from something in that specific dye. I would say about 1/3-1/2 of the dots are like this in the entire quilt and I have taken a picture of one up close so you can see what I mean. Some of those dots have also bled slightly onto the backing or someone tried to cover them with ink and it bled.

That may clean out with proper care. I will not be washing this one just so I don't damage the red squares with water weight pulling on those holes at all. They seem stable but I will leave that to buyers discretion.

It doesn't have a bad odor anyway for the age. Finally there is one tear in a red square, also pictured. Fabric and age allowing-all our vintage linens get washed in an heirloom recipe linen wash, as they were washed when they were made. I soak them flat and agitate gently by hand, with no machine agitation and rinse/spin out gently. They are hung to dry.

This is just to remove any debris, dust, old storage odors without adding any damage. Because of this, spots/stains do not get treated or scrubbed, so some stains may be removable later with work.

It's a size charge from the shipper (UPS) for boxes that aren't standard. If you need more time please ask in advance, I'm usually happy to grant it. I will not go past 2 weeks and will not grant extra time after the fact though.

I will help you file a claim if something was damaged in transit so please message me with any issues. Please also be advised that antique glass has manufacturing flaws, these are normal and don't usually detract from value.

Because of my love for antique glass- I pack tightly with padding and extra space on all sides, meticulously. We also double box often.
