Antique UZBEK VINTAGE HAND EMBROIDERY SUZANI Gift Wall Hanging Quilt Bedding. SUZANi (Tajik Suzana, Uzbek So'zana, Persian) is a hand-embroidered wall carpet that is mainly made in Uzbekistan. The word suzane in translation from the Tajik language means sewn with a needle.

The art of making such fabrics in Iran is called suzandozi Pers. Suzane, as a rule, is embroidered with silk or floss with seams "kandakhiel" (type of smooth surface), "basma" (smooth surface attached), "yurma" (tambour), on cotton fabric, silk or velvet. The carpet is made with a lining, trimmed with braid or black fabric. A closed composition with a wide elegant border and a central field filled with one large patterned or several symmetrically arranged rosettes or motives (often of symbolic meaning) of a flowering bush, fruits, flowers, sometimes with images of animals. Popular design motifs include the sun and moon, flowers (especially tulips, carnations, irises), leaves, cotton and vines, fruits (especially pomegranates), fish and birds.
