Antique patchwork 19thc hand made quilt cotton blue indigo & white triple Irish
Cotton indigo blue calico & white triple Irish chain quilt. It is 84 x 81. Plenty of "tea" stains & foxing. 2 particularly bad areas to sort out. This is part of a collection I started 50 years ago & its time to let them go.
It needs to be soaked in Oxy & hand washed. I had never cleaned it. Why don't I do it??
I have 50 others to sell as well. I won't live long enough to clean & restore all of them.
I see NO holes or tears, appears structurally sound. Hand quilted on early woven backing. You can see the pencil marks, unwashed.The thin matching blue binding is machine sewn & they never got the 4th side finished, no binding there. See the hand sewn quilting on the back.
Nice thin raw cotton batting as it should be. 30 years ago I could find these early blue calicos, no longer.
