Marie Websters "French Baskets" Antique c1930s Applique QUILT. Minor wear on sawtooth edge. Back corner edge, light wear. This amazing quilt was completed by Amelia Bellini, born 1912 in Franklin Illinois. Bellini was obviously a skilled quilt maker and her name label is attached to the back corner.

Measuring a large 86 x 86 (which would fit a queen size bed), this one has an unusual border design, with sawtooth edges. Masterfully hand appliqued, including reverse applique work, with tiny, invisible stitches. We love the graceful, woven basket handles.

The hand quilting is exceptional on this quilt. Expertly hand quilted at 10 tiny stitches per inch, with tiny 1/2" gridwork in the white squares, ropes and 1" gridwork throughout. Very good condition , we show any imperfections, no matter how slight, in the photos: one tiny spot, some slight wear to the sawtooth edge, as some of the folds have split, backside corner has surface wear, one small surface slit (1/4). Overall, it is a 9 out of possible 10 on condition.
